No offense at all Mud.

Jonathan is right - the original repair did its thing but is now worn out as well.

I think this tractor was used for snow plowing duty, and used a lot. Having said that, the tranny and rear end functioned well (just leaks), so its known to be good - i.e. worth going through. Parts are on order so it wont be long.

The only thing left on this tractor is the engine, Im trying not to dig into it (only a matter of time, but will tackle that when that time comes)

Next task will be how to clean the housing well enough that paint will stick. (Oh, just thought I should check the internal brake pads while its open)

Was enough slushy snow today I got to run the plow a bit.

Then while I wait for these seals/bearings, I can clean some things up. Trunion plate. Then axle tubes.

I dont. I bought from a sponsor here.

For the top cover, I bought sheet gasket from the autosupply and just cut it with the gasket hammer. 3 mins. In fact, if any trouble getting the rear cover you could cut one the same way in no time. Then all you need to keep on hand is a roll of material.

Napa doesn't make/carry the rear cover gasket. That is a CCC only item.

I use silicone.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
