Another thing to watch for
So fired up the 125 today to mow, and it quit within seconds and the ammeter went to full discharge. Key off, open the hood, smoke everywhere. My battery had shifted (despite the hold-down being snug) and my ground cable was in contact with the ammeter, letting out all my smoke! I got it sorted out before any serious damage, but I had just been under the hood checking the oil, gas, and the air cleaner. I guess you can never be too careful!

Good that you caught it, no one likes smoke, maybe Willie Nelson though. I have seen some tractors I bought that have some wood blocks on either side of the battery, just for that issue, I guess.

We've got one or two with batteries under the seat that have a piece of inner tube on top of the terminal so it cant make contact with the underside of the seat.

Space is tight in my garage/workshop. I was squeezing past the 1211 the other day and knocked the seat down with the battery tender hooked up. Lots of sparks! I flipped the seat up before anything got fried! Yeah have to be extra careful and be attentive around these machines!

Another reason I like the narrow frames-battery under the hood. No worries from seat hitting the battery.
