Hello:
I bought a 126 Cub a few weeks ago. It had a snow plow on it, and mower deck not attached. I had to buy a few small prices to attach mower deck. I was told p.o never had it on in the three years he owned it. I've been trying to mow with it but keeps throwing off PTO belt. Its 81x1/2 .80 and it was too small. Any suggested fix would be a big help. It will mow for half hour or hour till it kicks the belt. But once it kicks it off keeps coming off every couple minutes. |

Welcome to OCC
![]() Pictures would help a lot in fixing your problem. A picture from the side of the mower deck showing both the deck and the belt angle in relation to the deck pulley and one from the front showing the mule drive ( that's the part that turns the belt 90 degrees to run to the mower deck from the engine) It may be as simple as the front of the mower deck being adjusted too low. Are you using a Cub Cadet belt? ( any number visible on it? ) Jeff |

OK I'll try to get picks I did not have a cub belt on it. I bought a cheap one to see if mower deck actually worked . I have noticed a spring missing on the mule drive. When I bought this cub it only had the snow plow on it . po said he never had the deck on it.I been buying parts as I find them for it

Yeah, if the spring on the mule is missing that's a good place to start.
There are good instructions for adjusting the mule in your owners manual.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
