Hello guys, I rebuilt my 1200 early last year and it has served me well in mowing duties. Today I went to mow a large field and wanted to try 3rd gear.
I only use 1st & 2nd normally on my property. Anyway it just barely wants to move. I can look thru the creeper handle hole and see the rag joint turning real slow. I am pretty sure the clutch is slipping. It was also replaced last year. Could it be the springs on the driveshaft have gotten weak? Thanks for the help Dave

Gotta love good advice, I dug out the service manual, and read up on the adjustment. Thats was my problem. backed off the nut a few turns and now it
works great in 3rd gear. I reckon Next weekend I can mow this field in no time at running in 3rd gear now Thanks Jonathon Dave

Make sure you didn't loose a spiral pin on the rear pressure plate. I had one fall out of mine awhile back. It still mowed fine just a bit slow. I found this out after I finished. I still can't believe it!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
