I think guys here have been changing the bearings out. I don't believe its something you buy from Cadet, have to go to a parts store (Napa) or bearing supplier. Search the forums for electric clutch rebuilds, don't think anything is special about the ones on Supers. There should be a number on the old bearing, probably can see it without even removing it.The one on my 2072 is beginning to get noisy at times.

I replaced the bearing in my 2082 (late serial #) last spring and this is the bearing I used. I picked it up from my local electric motor shop for about $15. Make sure you've got a press to get the old one out and get the new one pressed back in all the way. I didn't have mine pressed in all the way at first and it gave me fits.

A press will work but I've only ever used a large socket. Hold the pto in your hand and hit the socket to drive the bearing out, clean the area where the new bearing goes, start the new bearing and put some red Loctite on it and drive it down until it hits the stops near the bottom. I've used the old bearing on top of the new to hammer it into place to keep from damaging the new bearing. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
