Default Tiller bracket question

well I sand blasted the bracket that bolts to the tractor for my new to me tiller today. the dilemma I have now is I see that there's two holes on each side on the bottom. since I've sandblasted I can't tell which hole it was pinned in. so which one does it go in, and why is there two? I can't believe how badly rusted this thing is, but just the main plate. the two "ears" and the plate that the gearbox bolt to are in great shape. it looks like I sandblasted it with buckshot! also since this is a #2B tiller I need to get a 1/2" pulley for the bottom, can I get just a generic pulley to replace it? I notice the hub is like 2.5"s on the factory one. I can't see where a shorter hub would hurt anything besides having a little less key to grab. thanks

Go to the resource section and download the tiller manual. It specifies which hole does what.

As far as the pulley, the longer the hub, the more area the force is spread over ( instead of being concentrated in a shorter section )

I've never been able to get them to open, but after messing with it for half an hour I found out that I can right click and save it. Then I can open it as you said Jeff it explained all. Thanks jeff

A generic pulley won't stick down far enough, nor will it have enough contact area on the key. You'll likely shear the key.

I did some quick searching, but didn't find a pulley. I suggest looking for the correct one.

Might throw an ad in the wanted section on this site. Someone may have one. I buy a lot from ihccw.com, which is where I looked but he didn't have any right now. Then again, I called him once and he did have some parts I needed, but the website just hadn't been updated. Also check with the sponsors up top, and on ebay. They pop up on there pretty often.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
