Thanks! All it takes is time, with this forum as a resource, it's pretty cool what you can do!

Thanks, it sounds a lot better without that clutch on the drive shaft rattling away!

Thank you.

I think so, it's not done yet but at least I can get some seat time in.

Thanks.

There really is. I think the diesels get a bad rap, with not starting well and being finicky, but with the ingenuity of some members here and a little time, a lot of those issues can be made quite a bit better.

Maiden voyage, still need to get the H42 on the front. I'll have to fab up a lift link.

It needs chains, but I was surprised how much snow it would move with just bare tires. That rear blade scraps it right down to the concrete.

I pulled back out, it is 18.0" long, possibly Sam will chime in and let me know if this is in fact from a 1864, or a different tractor? Or I'm really missing something here.

What size Did you drill and tap the pump shift ?

This stuff about the drive shaft length is from an old post but I'll cover it again.
That is not an 1864 or 1863 shaft. Here is the info for the shaft you need.
Shaft, Drive, 20.38" Lg Part Number: 738-3098 ( 1863 &1864)

Jason drill and tap the pump shaft for a 1/4"-28 X 3/4" I use a right angle drill when I do them in the tractor. Just drill it till you get to the hole that the old spirol pin went in. Take your time because the shaft is hard and what ever you do, do not bust the tap.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
