Looking at that pic Jeff, I don't think that is the coupler on the hydro.

This one is. It has the ball bushing removed.

The pictures of the two adapters are for the Kubota engine using a CV style driveshaft ( from a 1862 ) .

The coupler you pictured is for the factory driveshaft.

Jeff

If your talking about doing a CV shaft conversion for a 1572 or 1782 the shaft needed is from a 1863 or 1864.

Looks great Jeff, THANK YOU. I sent the other part back, it went out in the mail 12/3.

The one I am using, is indeed, from an 1864.

THANKS Sam, for engineering this swap and the rear braces. Those saved me from a new rear end.

And THANK YOU to FrankF3, OAK, CTRUEX, andyw, JLM78, JayNJeep, Red56Turbo, J Mech, sbauerz28, cub123, agitech and all those I'm sure, I'm forgetting, who's ideas I have copied onto my 1772.

Great group here.

I'm sorry Jeff, I was talking about these ones. Those look like the ones for the drive shaft.

Got some work done on the 1772.

Gear reduction starter is installed;

As is the mini alternator;

It has been a real pain to get this thing to start, the next day after the starter was installed, it would not fire up at all. I pulled the fuel line at the filter head, and energized to pump, fuel was coming out, but the flow was low. I pulled the tank and found the feed line was kinked. New lines will be installed.

I made new battery cables from 0 gauge wire and have to tidy the wiring back up.

The drive shaft removal was fun, . I need to pick up a replacement alternator / water pump belt, a new fan belt and new fuel lines.

The one snag I see is the 1864 drive shaft I bought, does not have a fan with it. If the one off of the 1772 will not work, I may need to source a fan. Other than that it will be going back together.

I did pick up a cat "0" rear blade off of CL for it. I did not take any pictures of that.

The odds of the 1772 fan, working on the 1864 drive shaft are pretty low.

The 1772 fan part number is 903-1434, price is $89.76

The 1864 fan part number is 931-3095, price is $16.78.

For a difference of $72.98!

I'm thinking I'm gonna need to order a 1864 fan.

You will need a fan from a Cyclops. $15 and change here.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
