ACecil,

I am very excited about this "70" and think it's about a 65? Anyway, the condition of this tractor is awesome with the deck being in perfect condition. The only thing I may have to do is rebuild the engine.

I do plan on restoring it completely as if it just rolled off the showroom floor and drive it around the neighborhood. I will; however, make sure the deck cuts perfect and then take it off so I will not be tempted to cut with it.

I used to be into restoring Simplicity garden tractors years ago and see myself getting addicted all over again with Cub Cadets. There's just something about tractors.

Have fun and we'll talk later.

Jeff

Cubdrummer,

Sounds like $600 is more than fair. The accessories that you are getting with your purchase will allow you to use the cub year round (moving snow, dirt, multch, etc.), not to mention the wheel weights and other items. The parts alone on the tractor quickly add up to over your purchase price. I just saw a 14 hp Kohler off a cub go for over $400 on E-bay not too long ago!! But ultimately, it is your $$ and your choice. I just wish to add with what others have been saying, that if you do purchase an older cub, then you won't regret your decision!!! Keep us posted on whatever you decide. Lots of luck to you and yours and WELCOME!!!!

Default my 147

I bought my 147 about 6 years ago for $1000.00. It came with a plow and disc harrow, and was equipped with a hitch and lift in the back. The owner bought it new and lived in the suburbs (only used the plow one time) It had been always stored in the garage. I use it to mow 2 acres and plow my garden. Seems like it could go for another 40 years! I think that I got a good value.

I ended up buying a 108 yesterday. Its a little dirty, but overall looks like it was stored inside (no rust) and runs strong. Its ready to mow the lawn as it sits. For $350 i couldnt pass it up. Yellow fever has started, even my dad commented "they dont build 'em like that anymore". Thanks again to everyone that replied to my post and welcomed me. . Ill post pics soon. Im going out to play with my new toy..

I have a 147 they are like tanks.
The 147 did have electric lifts.
They for the most part work well. Like anything that is 40 yrs old will most likley work longer than the new stuff that is being made now.
$600 is a good price.

ole 147

Good luck:biggrin2.gif:

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
