We were doing up some PITA saplings, and brush the other day. While pushing through the thick crap, I was backing up and all of a sudden I noticed oil soaking my front left tire! So I immediately shut the 104 (124 just haven't re-badged) down and jumped off the seat to find this.
I looked around for hours for the little pr!ck, no luck, so I got the potato picker out and started raking weeds and sticks still nothing. So, I got to thinking, prob one of the saplings that bent over stood back up and caught the edge the the stick. I looked further away from where I was at and found the little bugger about 6 feet away! 20151028_162919.jpg 20151028_162942.jpg 20151029_142005.jpg And now its bright red!! Do any of you fine gentlemen know where I would be able to get the o-ring seal for around the top of the stick? I noticed it was kinda hard and has been seeping oil around it.

I get my o-rings at NAPA. They have a pretty good selection.

When I was younger mowing with my dad's 125 I was mowing around a kids seat swing (like one of those that hang from chains) and I pushed forward through it, then backed out. Upon backing out I saw oil shooting out of where the dipstick was, or should have been. Shut her down and wondered where the dipstick went, and lo and behold there it was hanging from the chain of the swing. The chain caught it and pulled it out as I backed up.
My dad has a hedge line that I used to mow next to (same mower) and occasionally a branch would hit the governor lever and slow the engine down momentarily. Got me every time.

when the o rings get worn and the crankcase pressure is hi enough they pop out and can go pretty far and make a big mess. On our pulling engines, we used to tape them in.
One day we were dyno testing a motor and somehow the vacuum pump got hooked up backwards. It blew the dipstick out and soaked my Fat Boy and Ultra classic with oil. |

It is nice to have something close/convenient. If they don't have what I need, a 1/2 mile away is a large AG John Deere dealer and they usually have it. It just galls me that a Hwd store gets nine cents for an o ring and auto parts or Deere/IH gets a couple of dollars or so for the same ring. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
