Is it possible or has anyone replaced the input shaft seal without tearing down the creeper gear?
Thanks, Rob

I don't see why you couldn't do it. drill a pair of small holes in the seal, screw in a couple small screws and pry the seal out. Make sure the input shaft is smooth before you slide the new seal over it and then seat it with a deep socket. Keep the drill shavings out of the gears...

Yeah, that's actually a better idea. No shavings.

Thanks, guys.
I got it to work. What does the spacer behind the poppet look like? This one doesn't look right to me.

The poppet is the little shift arm that engages the detents on the side of the housing. I've never removed the spacer. But this is what it looks like..

Thanks for the picture.
I was expecting to see a spacer on the handle shaft between the poppet and the creeper housing. That looks like roll pin, washer and poppet with space between the poppet and housing? Sound right??

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
