Well I got into the problem. Everything else looks good. I can't see any other damage, so maybe I can get this thing going if I can find the part.

Well, that is definitely your problem.

Perhaps a good used Sundstrand Hydro Unit is in order.

A good used one is your best bet.
Don't usually see that problem.
Check our sponsors or evil pray, I bought a spare hydro a while back and it was like $75 + shipping you will spend that in gasket & seals.
FWIW: seeing as your familar with Green parts, their seals/hydro gskt are the same and less $$ but not their cork gasket, for hydro to rear housing, it is paper and too thin.
I make mine out of neoprene, seems like they are .036 or so.
glad you found it so quick, sorry I underestimated your abilities last night.

You probably didn't underestimate my abilities. I just get luck sometimes. I know a guy that might have a Hydro pump. I'll get in touch with him later tonight. It will get fixed one way or another. I've only got $50 tied up in this 782, so I can spend a little money and still be ok.

$50 is nothing for a good running 782. They are worth the investment.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
