When I tightened the steering on my 1250, I used the method that Sawdustdad described. In doing so, I used a fine thread bolt, making the squeeze a little easier. Really, it didn't take too much to get the channel squeezed back into the correct spacing. Here is a better description of the job. http://cubfaq.com/axlepivot.html
Be sure to get a new pin. The pin is available from the sponsors and is a Cub Cadet part. At this time, it is a good idea to replace your tie rod ends on both the steering drag link and the tie rod. Be sure that the grease zirc is properly working on your axle and regularly grease the pivot. Brian Wittman |

I'd check with Cub Classics to see if they have them - I've had great luck scoring NOS or equivalent parts through him. |

Yes, I'm pretty sure that I still have the old one. Do you want it? Keep in mind that it may be worn down a thou or two.

Shall I PayPal you funds for postage cost? Or you want credit towards parts? |

Don't worry about it. It'll be my contribution to keeping these fine old machines running. Just e-mail me your address and I'll get it in the mail. tpelle at outlook dot com |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
