The IPL I have says

1024 843825 Pump--Oil
(Used After Code Date
07101400).
-- -- -- -- -- -- Note -- -- -- -- -- --
Pump--Oil
(Oil Pump Is No
Longer Available)(See
Reference 18 For
Correct Replacement
Crankcase Cover).
(Used Before Code
Date 07101500

I understand that to mean they want you t change the Cover to use the new pump, but i'm sure you know a lot more about these engines than I do. Date code on mine is 95

I suggest that you call tech support at Vanguard engines.

I got the engine and cover outside and took a spray bottle full of diesel fuel and washed out every speck of gear that I could find. I put the cover back on and ran the bolts in hand tight so it will stay clean until I get back to it. Thanks Guys

I blew the dust off the 1641 engine and got it up on the bench. Lew and Group44 have sent me the parts I need. I cleaned the old gasket off and installed the new oil pump on the case and bolted the dipstick tube to the case to see where the dipstick is. I had to tweak the tube arm a little to get it where I think it needs to go. I must have bent it getting the sheet metal back on when I changed the tube grommet. Does this look right or should it be on the other side of the pickup tube?

I got the engine back together yesterday. I put some oil in it and before I installed the new oil filter I hooked the jumper cables to it and turned it over until oil started coming out the filter adapter. I got the engine back in the tractor yesterday and this morning finished hooking everything up. With the new filter on I cranked the engine over to prime the system and in about 10 seconds the oil pressure light went out. I have a set of gauges to put on it but don't know if I will do that now. I'd like to see a picture of the back side of the dash with the gauges installed. Is the gauge all in the plastic dash or does some metal have to be cut? I'll crank it up and drive it around a little after daylight and recheck the oil. Thanks again to Lew and Group44 for sending me the parts.

This makes two of us, I'd like to also see the rear of the dash with the gauges installed. I've got some gauges I want to add to one of my Cyclops' but have been holding off on it. I wish there were options for other places to install gauges on these machines but the dash seems to be it. Maybe someone will have a better idea.

Great progress and pics on the 1641 btw

These are in a 1641. You need to use 1-1/2" diameter gauges, they fit nice just above the steering tilt boot on a Cyclops.

I'm assuming one of those is an oil pressure gauge, what did you use for line?

Thanks for the pic btw

I used the plastic line that came in the kit. So far no problems but it's out in the open so I can keep an eye on it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
