The 2182 about did me in tonight. I was working on fixing the cam rod. The PO had it all messed up. Instead of running from the cam pivot bracket to the brake lever. He had it going from the pivot bracket to the parking brake plate. So when you hit the brakes it would stay at speed and do nothing to the hydro.
So I had it taken apart and dropped one of the c clips and it fell under the deck so I couldn't reach it. I was standing behind the tractor at this point when my buddy turns the key to start it and lift the deck up. That didn't work out so well. All of a sudden I had a beast of a mower coming at me in reverse, by the time I got to the key I was wedged between the tractor and a rolling tool cart and we were racing across the garage, the only reason we stopped is the 2072 I'm rebuilding got in the way. Luckily I wasn't hurt. The tool cart needs a couple new wheels and the 2072 is determined to not have nice paint on the frame. Lesson learned. Here's the cam rod that was in it, the new one and the front of the 2072 |

My neck is stiff but It's affecting my shoulder more than my neck. For the past couple weeks they thought I had torn something in my rotator cuff because my shoulder is killing me. An MRI showed nothing wrong with my shoulder but an mri on my neck showed a pretty ugly herniation of the disk between c4-c5.

I have a 2182 that I purchased this past October and with a lot of work on the snow blower it is now ready to blow snow however lately when I start it it will run for a few seconds then quits. I can hear the fuel pump running. Yesterday I started it and it was running fine with the choke out a little. After about 5 min it quit and now only starts and then quits. Is it the fuel pump?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
