DX3:
1) AFAIK Sears did not make a "Sleeve Hitch".
2) Sears did make as 3-point lift which was unlike the one Cub Cadet used.
3) Sears did make an adaptor for their 3-point lift version which mounts to a Cub Cadet (as well versions for other tractor brands)...I have one for the Cub Cadets...with some Sears 3-pt design implements.
4) Brinly made Sleeve Hitches and Adaptors for use with implements having the sleeve hitch yoke.
5) At the same time, Montgomery Ward also sold 3-pt lifts and 3-pt implements of the same "Sears" design (common supplier maybe?).

So, if you ask about the Sears 3-point lifts, I'll answer including photos of that mounting bracket. If you continue ask about Sears Sleeve Hitches, I've got nothing to say.

Not too long ago someone posted something asking about another "Sears brand" component/implement/attachment, and someone else suggested that the original poster sell their Sears part and then buy the correct part for their Cub.

There are a lot of die hard Sears brand tractor fans out there (I don't have a problem with that) Sears did in fact market some pretty nice, heavy duty L&G tractors and equipment in the 60's and 70's and I'm sure the owners of these older machines love them just as much as WE love our Cubs.

The point here is; The older Sears parts are pretty hard to find, and would probably "bring" more on ebay than a similar Cub Cadet part. Unless _DX3_ has the resources (time, tools, welding equipment) and the love for engineering and fab work, he could sell the part he has and buy the correct part for his Cub and could probably walk away with a couple of bucks left over. Then, his tractor (and the Sears brand tractor with the new part) would be a little more valuable than they were before... Something of a "win, win" situation.

I also believe that it's important to know that, to the best of my knowledge, Sears has NEVER "made" anything. Sears is a marketing giant, they "contract" with manufacturers to build goods that meet their (Sears) specifications, and have these goods "badged" with a Sears/Craftsman/Kenmore... label and serial number. In almost every situation, goods marketed by Sears can be found at a different retailer under a different brand name.

Myron, I REALLY hate to play the BS card here, but Sears does sell a Craftsman sleeve hitch. Here is a link to it on their website:

Bridgewatertek: I take it that you think that Sears link you posted shows is a 1961-1985 model?? The era of the IH Cub Cadets..It's not. That's current Sears stuff for newer models. Everything in my post was all in past tense relating to the 1961-1981 IH era...

DX3: Your original post made no mention of 1994, so I responded with information concerning the IH Cub Cadet era. Nothing I have will help you till you get a real Cub Cadet (IH that is) (:-}>... Sears and M/W both sold Kits for other brand tractors for their 3-points of the day. It's one of those that I have and for Yosemite's benefit, it won't fit a Sears/Craftsman!! Only a 1961-1981 IH made Cub Cadet can use it. That was so Sears could sell Cub Cadet owners Sears implements.

Myron, I don't think I ever knew that Sears/MW sold the kits you described, though it doesn't surprise me... They gotta have their fingers in EVERYTHING!

Thanks for the info.

I also didn't understand that this was for a "newer" model... I can't seem to get it into my head that anyone made garden tractors and attachments after 1981.

Those old ss-12 Sears were no joke! And the belt-drive system was second to none! I gave mine to my mom's brother's son, and it still rocks today......and he will never part with it as of all the "toys" the kid has, it is his favorite. Myron, could you please tell me if there is a diffrence between a 3-point hitch and a 3-point adjustable angling hitch. This saturday I'am picking up a disk harrow gang. And my info. says that the disk harrow requires the 3-point adjustable angling hitch. I have not much luck on my homework, so I thought maybe you would know. Thanks, John

JohnCub: I have never heard of the term "adjustable angling" hitch. However, the standard Cat "0" 3-pt lift (usually hydraulic) is certainly adjustable and will angle from side-to-side. The older Sears manual types will not do much of that. Maybe that is what they mean.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
