154 Cub Lo-Boy
Hey guys, I don't know how many of you will remember me, I used to frequent the forums, but recently bought a 64 F350 so I have been spending most of my time on that.
Anyways, yesterday I brought home a 71 Lo-Boy. It has been sitting at my neighbors house for a while now. Hadn't run in 3 or 4 years. I went over and talked to the guy. I remember last year he wanted 1200 for it. I went over there and he said 700 this time. It was not running, had a lot of mold and grime on it and had been neglected. I offered $550 and he accepted. It came with a plow, mower deck, front brush guard and an array of extra parts he had accumulated. I brought it home and the wiring was a MESS!!! (Turned the light switch to the last click and the engine began turning over, LOL) So I took the wiring off of it and started from scratch. In about 2 hours I had it running. Flushed the gas tank and off she went. Of course it needs the typical fiberglass work but thats to be expected. What do ya think, $550 a good deal?

Good to see you post Cory! Looks like a clean 154 lo boy to me with sme nice options. Our family has one just like it...if the drive clutch is in good shape on yours its a good deal. They are a fun tractor to run!

Hey buddy,
Yes the clutch works awesome! I was very pleased when I found that out. I have no idea if that brush guard was original or homemade... don't see an IH anywhere. And yes... my mask and gloves were both on.

The brush guard is nice! That would help keep the fiberglass grill shell inttact...there are quite a few lo boys floating around with cracked grilles. Hope to see some action shots!

I've never seen the IH mower deck. I knew they made one, but just hadn't seen it. Both my LB's came with the woods deck. I really like my LB. Wish it was just a bit bigger of a tractor sometimes though.....

You did really good on that deal especially with the plow and deck included. Very nice little tractors but could use some more power.
I have a 154 that was given to me, the trans was supposedly bad but it was the creeper gear. Scored a creeper from Houtz years ago and has been a good little tractor. That doesn't look like a factory bumper but it looks cool, maybe stainless under that paint?. I'd like to see a pic of it on the tractor, mine needs one. Congrats

Nice score, Cory! Good to see you again. Wish I had some attachments for mine, would love a plow blade. They made a monstrous snowthrower and a tiller for them, and if you get real lucky you can find a front bucket for them too! (The IH 50, I think) great find, and have fun with it! How is your truck doing?
