Tonight as I was hauling around my #2 cart with my 147 filled with lawn scraps to be dumped, I had a small moment. (not the first time this has happened.) I was thinking that I was grateful for having a 147 and a #2 cart to use on my property. 5 years ago I did not have either of them. Another cub cadet would be nice, sure, but I'm extremely thankful for the one I have. I'm ok having just the one I have. It will do anything I ask it to. It mows, can push just about anything with the front blade (usually snow) and I can hook up a rototiller to do the dirty work for me. It's pulled a stuck truck out of my yard without really even grunting. It's a pretty stout little machine that I'm so glad I bought. I was also thinking about those that wished they had a cub and can't for one reason or another, and that helped me to be even more grateful for what I have.

Amen to that good sir. I love my 582Special also. The tractor is as old as I am and still runs great. It started my mowing business for me. To this day it is still always up for any task that I need it for. I bought it from my grandma a few years back. It's now my main snowplowing and garden worker.

So very true. My 1210 did things it was never designed to do and I beat the crap out of it. Very rarely did it object. Had it not been for my Uncle's O and my 1210 I probably would not be here now, let me correct that, I would not be here now. Long live the Oldies but Goodies. ![]()

Daniel,
I agree with you... A 1450 got me hooked.. It served me as a kid in the 1970's.. I cut grass all over the neighborhood.. I did things with it and to it that it didn't deserve.. We had many pull offs in the back of the neighborhood.... we would chain two tractors together and have a tug of war... It has 10.50 ag tires with wheel weights and water in the tires... it never got beat..none of the neighborhood kids understood why their dads new murray wouldn't budge the old cadet....dad plowed hard with it... it never balked.. always performed what we asked.. Mom still uses it to this day to cut her grass.. 40 years of continuous faithful service... kinda hard to beat.. I feel thankful to still have it and thankful that it hooked me into yellow fever so many years ago.

Nothing like looking over the hood and saying to yourself, "Wow, that saved my back.....or saved me time....etc.". Seems like the only thing our cubs cannot do is make all of this rain stop for a while. You said it so well, though!! Take stock of what we have and be grateful.

Very important thing to do there, take some time to stop and think of the things, people, times that we have that make our lives special, and yes, be grateful. Haven’t been around Cubs for long but it seems that just about every day I have some fun with mine. Mowed for two hours yesterday, sprayed 50 gallons of weed killer with the tow behind sprayer that I built, and then came home and pulled the head and finally got that exhaust elbow out!
Helped my wife and kids put the sailboat in this morning. Got stuck in a rain storm as soon as we got out in the harbor. Swam to shore. Going to the tractor pulls this weekend. Might even get the chicken dinner. Life is good. I am grateful. Thanks, David. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
