Default PTO off Model 70
Removed the beat up PTO from my model 70 project.

Notice the crazy set screws this thing had. I used a flywheel puller converted to bearing puller that worked ok. I got that idea somewhere here.

The collar came loose after removing nut set screw and hitting several times with a punch clockwise.

Does the collar attatch or thread onto the bearing? since not all use that nut set screw , how does it attatch?

If you look close the collar and the flange they work by being not concentric to the hole for the shaft. That nut and set screw is a PO mod I would say

Some collars (I think O.E.M. for sure) have the set screw with lock nut on it on the concentric collar.

Looks like the basket needs to be corrected to the right of the set screw access hole.

My nuts must be missing cause I'm on my third clutch and I've not seen any lock nuts. Maybe they were all worked on previously.

The "tooth" to right of the tooth with the access hole looks like it's smashed down is what 07 is saying

Is that a big deal? what does the basket do anyway?

The starter/gen pulley didn't have any play.

I've had a quite a few with the nut on the set screw. I'm pretty positive that it was a factory thing.

Boy that pto looks like it has had a lot of better days. Alot! Lol no wonder why you were looking for a newer one in better shape.
