Default Bumper ID

Anybody know if this is a Cub Cadet bumper. I have seen a few on cubs at plow day as well as pictures on cubs for sale, but I can't find any part #.

The bumper is no longer available but they show up on ebay occasionally. The bumper in your photo looks to me like a homemade knock-off of the Cub Cadet bumper. I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong.

There are members that have made their own. I would like to have one if the price is reasonable.

Here is what I know about that style of bumper.

Our local dealer had a NOS one of that style laying on his shelf. He said they were made by a third party for Cub Cadet. He said that style was not for sale. He said they were promotional. If you bought a tractor and additional attachments like a deck, blower, blade, tiller etc, you got this bumper thrown in for free. I assume this was late in the run of the Cyclops series.

He did not know why the design of this bumper was changed from the original style. Maybe cheaper to make since they were giving them away.

Here is a pic of this style bumper on one of our 2072's

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
