Have a Cub 123 I bought for $100. I want to restore it but not even sure if the engine is good. Turns over by hand. Slapped new 340 CCA battery in it today and won't do anything? Doesn't turn over at all. So electric problem somewhere. So I guess my question is, where should I start this restoration project? Buy a new wiring harness, ignition switch, coil, condenser etc etc etc? I have a love hate relationship with this new toy already lol. Please just steer me in the right direction. I would venture to say the engine is still good.

Go here:
http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=35 Then dig out a test light and a multi-meter and find where you don't have power.

Ok just watched a YouTube video on it. Yah I think that would help eliminate good from bad wiring. |

No, it just tells you if you have power. It won't tell you if you have good amps, or good connections. Doesn't take much to light the light, but it can speed up finding trouble spots.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
