Default It was a lot better than raking

My wife has been busy stacking wood inn the woodshed I built last fall. Today I wanted to clean up the leftover bark and mess from splitting wood. My 1000 and Brinley box scraper made short work of it.

Having a couple of Quietlines in California brings me back to my Midwest roots, but I don't miss the weather. It was 75° and sunny all day here today.

Enough rubbing it in. We moved from the suburbs up into the mountains on acreage. I had some stuff shipped out from the midwest and got the 1000 shipped for a really good price. I found a craigslist deal out here on a 1450, #2 tiller the box scraper, a set of wheel weights and a 3-point hitch. It is so good to finally live somewhere like this and it is even better when I can put my cubs to work.

As I sit here in Illinois watching the snow melt, I was going to make some nasty comment about the shorts and t-shirt. But since you had such a great day, I'll let it go. LOL!

Looks like you had fun! Nice tractor!

I grew up on that 1000 in Illinois. It came here with a 44" mower deck. I don't have that much lawn to mow so I like to say it retired in California.

We burn about 3 cords a year. It does get cold at night but nothing like where I grew up. In the morning it is usually around 60° in the house.

I have a vintage Lickety Log Splitter that I used to make the bark mess. I pull it out to the shed with the 1000. I love vintage Kohler powered equipment.

We have redwood trees in our yard. Once I get it cleaned up I'll take some pictures of Quietlines in a redwood forest. You can see some of the small ones in the background of the pictures I posted in this thread.

Same boat as Jon. Waiting for the snow to melt, but nice to see someone enjoying a nice warm sunshiny day.

Looks great, Bob!

I'm with Todd and Jon, I think my Cubs would sink if I got them out to play today!

Here is a suggestion to save your back some when using log splitter. Get a pair of car ramps and pull the splitter wheels up on them. Then block the front up to level it. I have an old Cornell splitter that I do that with and it brings the splitter up to nearly waist height. I also built a little table that goes on the front and it helps immensely when splitting twice.

Lifting logs to the splitter got old real fast. This was my answer back when I lived in CT.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
