Default another hydro question (127)
I have been looking around under the tractor and it looks like the ball joint ends on the hydro connections are worn out. It looks like that's where a lot of the slop in the lever is coming from. How do I go about accessing them? Do I need to take the tower off? I don't see an access panel on the frame unless I'm blind, which could be the case....

You'll have to do it from under the tractor. I'd highly recommend getting some equivalent heim joint replacements from McMaster-Carr. 5 years ago, I paid about $12 each for those little ball joints...

That's an online store, but NAPA would probably also have them. Just take in your old rod ends and see if they can get you an equivalent heim joint.

I just went to CC's parts lookup and they still sell them. It gives the IH part along with the "new" replacement part and #'s. I'll take that tomorrow and find someone to cross reference it.

Does the service manual go over the re-installation, or is it something just screw it on till whenever. All this is a first for me...

I did this once on a 125, and I think you adjust the ends such that when the hydro lever is in neutral, the arrow on the cam plate lines up with the pin on the linkage. If you don't know what I'm talking about, this is on the left side of the frame, probably right behind the fenders. Sadly, I don't have a picture, as I just sold all my NF tractors today.

do you think I could probably use the paint marks (unpainted threads) on the rods as a reference point to get it close to start with when screwing them back on?

Yeah, as long as the new joints are the same length as the ones you are replacing.
