Default Cub 100 steering column shaft thread damage help needed
The upper threads on the steering column shaft are half stripped with the other half "mushed". Not sure I can salvage the threads. These are the threads which hold the steering wheel on. Has anyone had this problem? Maybe I can cut some threads inside the shaft for a bolt. Has anyone done this? Any advice?

I have heard people tapping the inside and using a bolt instead of a nut to hold wheel on

I re-taped mine on my 70 puller. Works fine.

You can try running a die on them and/or use a thread file on the mashed ones
lower down.

i once welded the end up and used a grinder to round it and rethreaded it, it wasnt pretty but it worked great.

thats actually a decent idea, youd have to cut the shaft at the top of the splines and then thread it.
