I can see a problem already with your help.....Who gets the 1st ride when it is done?

1 hr. for teardown. Maybe you should hire them out for Nascar or Indy circuit?

Now is a fine time to point it out but the "hole" at the top of the rear cover is a vent. You did mask that off, right?

Jeff, I looked at it, but I don't think there is a vent on a gear drive. there weren't any holes inside the case going to it that I could find. I think the shift lever is a place to equalize pressure.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have hydros and maybe that's what I'm thinking. Gear shift venting makes sense.

No worries Jeff, I appreciate the lookout.

Someone will chime in if I'm wrong. I looked on Partstree and I see an O-ring but I don't think the shift lever is airtight.

Yes, the gearshift is the vent on a gear drive. No vent on the top back like on a hydro.
