Found out some very interesting news tonight on the 782. It only has a 10hp engine in it. Probably a Kohler, he said the other motor went bad and he got rid of it. Makes me sad but I'll probably still buy it.

I see a Price drop aisle 3 ![]() Bought my 782 with an "electrical problem" not running with a good 50" mower & Qa 42 thrower for $250 Electrical problem was a broken camshaft caused by a rod through the block,. typical of the series 1 Po had no clue. It got a M-18 replacement, love it, I put close to 700 hours on it now. |

I gave $400 for my 782. It came with a blade, weights, 50" deck, and a series II. However, it was much rougher than the one you are looking at.

I gave about $400 for my 782 in western MO a few years ago. Came with a 44" deck and a series II engine, but high hours.
You could always find a replacement twin engine... ![]()

I re-powered my 782 with a Honda 18HP. It's quirky but it dropped right in.

I picked mine up for a bit less, powered it with a CH18 and put a Sam Mac 2000 drive shaft in. Guess I have a little more than that in it now.

Now that I know it only has a 10 horse Kohler in it will I still have enough engine/hydraulic lift to do work? I wasn't aware you could put an old Kohler in the 82 series of tractor. Thanks for all the info guys greatly appreciated.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
