Any one use a snow blower on anything but flat places? Took my 149 down behind the house to pull a 5x8 trailer to the garage. It had my snow blower and a few other pieces on it. My 149 has 8.5 x 23 reg. tires and 55# weights on each wheel. Could not pull that trailer out of there. Ground had thawed and was wet. Tractor just spun the wheels. I was surprised. I now know I will have to use my other new winter like tread tires and possibly chains to even think about snow blowing. Would like to hear of your experiences. Have a great day.

i tried using my qa 42 on my 1250 last year with just weights,didnt work so good.my driveway is a bit of an incline,i would reccomend chains and maybe filling the tires with windshield washer fluid

I was dragging some brush to the ditch one day when it was wet out and things got a little messy.
This was all on flat ground, the rears on this tractor are weighted, chained AND loaded. Nex time I may wait till it dries up a little...

My drive has a slight incline up to the garage. When I first got my qa 42 on my 1450 I had just chains on it and could barely back up into the garage. Once I added weight, problems went away and all has been good. I think with any thrower weight is necessary, even more weight is needed if your going with no chains. I would only run without chains if I had filled ags, chains are a must when running turf tires IMO.

I switched from turf/chains to loaded ags, and have had much better success with the ags. My lot has rock, and every time I hit a rock the chains would slip. Thin icy spots the chains did a little better, but if a little snow mixed the ags would bite on it.
And the more weight you can get on it the better (mine now has both loaded tires plus wheel weights). Mud would be a different issue though, and I think ags would be critical to clear the mud from the tire. just $.02 |

Thanks for all the replies. I had replaced the old cork gasket between pump and rear end, put new hytran fluid and filter, new drive shaft and fan and Thought I was ready for action. Found a bolt missing from engine to frame when I installed the drive shaft. No longer have a knocking sound that I thought was coming from inside the engine. I was fired up and ready to go. That trailer took all the fire out of me and my old cub 149. You are right Tim, that trailer is going to do Me and the cub in. Ha ha. Going to put the tires on that are pictured below. They are loaded with 65#each rim guard, and will also put the 55# wheel weights on. Let me at that trailer!!!!! He He. Hope every one has a great day.

Trust me. No one should see me and the cub & trailer in action. Too many people would have a heart attack. I think Tim knows of the first trailer incident.
