Good answer. I Know a guy that has a pile of old junk lawn tractors that just likes adding to his junk pile. People have offered him $$$ but he just keeps adding to the herd. It's making his wife crazy. Maybe talk to his wife and wave the cash in front of her.

Take a woman's approach. NAG NAG NAG NAG until he sells. A neighbor boy bought an old Ford truck that way.

Bring your young boy with you, if you don't have one borrow one! Show the Cub to the kid and talk about all fun it can be for him to work on "IF" that man sells them

Kids can get the best or the worse out of us! It's hard to resist wen they look at you and there eyes look like they are on the verge of tears!

That's a dirty tactic but I like it.

If he's a horder, you're wasting your time.

If he's not, then lay some ground work first. Simply mention that you're interested in buying them if he ever wants to sell. If you know him or he's a neighbor, then over time, you have the chance to "jokingly" mention, "When are ya going sell me those Cubs?"

It may take months or years, but when he's ready to part with them, you will be the first person that comes to mind.

from my experience,it seems the more they have hoarded the less likely they will sell. recently i had a 85 yr old gentleman contact me regarding snowblowers. well he has a 14 acre hoard and didnt seem to want to let anything go unless it was full on retail.everything runs he said..... maybe 20 years ago it did.i left him my card and drove off, perhaps one day i will get a call.also these tv shows have everyone with a rusty pile in there yard thinking they have a gold mine, just my 2 cents.Roger

Lots of great info given already. I have to agree with the hoarder comments. Hoarders NEVER let anything go. The only time anything leaves their place is after they pass on unfortunately............ Talk to the owner and see if he will sell them. Offer what you think is appropriate and what you're comfortable with. If he doesn't wanna sell, leave your number and name and have him contact you if/when he wants to sell. Check back in every couple of months but don't be too pushy. Some people can get pretty pi$$ed off and may point more than a finger at you. Most people you can feel out when you're talking with them. If you kept asking about selling them and he was getting irritated, let it sit for a while. I've seen alot of cubs just sitting around. Asked the owner if they are for sale. Nope. Gonna fix them up. Ten years later, still sitting in the same spot, sunk six inches into the ground. Won't sell. Unfortunately, you'll run into that. Someday might be an estate sale. Kinda sad. Good luck!

It's not that he doesn't want to sell, you just haven't made him the right offer yet. Everything has a price, it's just not always a fair price to both buyer and seller.

Same thing applies in the "old car" community
The longer they sit....the more they are worth..
OK!! If they are worth so much, why not at the very least, cover 'em up of move 'em inside somewhere to keep 'em from going downhill even more that they are already!!??
Never mind the fact that the longer they sit, the worse condition they will be in and the greater the chance that they will NEVER be bought back tom their former glory.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
