I wouldn't worry too much about the "guts" of the pump..... they almost never fail. Weak charge pump is about as bad as you can expect.

I didn't miss it Sam, Travis had already pointed it out.

Had the same problem with our 2072. I had good pressure at the pump but had no power steering or lift. After much hair tearing out and a bunch of cleaning on the bottom of the steering shaft to read the connections I found that the input line from the pump (output at the pump) was connected to the out connection on the steering box and the out line was connected to the in connector. We switched the two lines and everything worked as it was supposed to.

Well I checked the lines running to the front and everything was good but still no power steering or lift .I got looking closer at the hydro and not just the charge pump but the whole unit looked like maybe someone was into it.I had the parts 2072 sitting there and just said ok stop messing around and I swapped it out.I now have a running driving 2072 with power steering and the lift now works fine.At some point I may open that one up and see what was done but for now I'm just happy everything is working. Thanks again to all who took the time to help out.

Glad you got it going Bob! Parts tractors are nice. It usually takes me longer to convince myself to do something, than it does to JUST DO IT!

I have one more question ,I have a complete Super hydro pump assembly with a worn input shaft.Would it be tough to swap out just the shaft that way I would have a spare complete rear.I have looked at the parts diagram but thought maybe someone that has done it could chime in.

Thanks , Bob

Pump needs to be dissembled. I guess it depends on what you consider tough. Take a look at the manual and you'll see what's involved.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
