This is the one I recommended to the old widow neighbor. She's had it two years now and loves it. I checked it out the day we put it together, and it's a well built unit.
She's only lifting a green lawn tractor, but for cleaning out the wet grass she gathered from mowing around her pond it works well. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/stor...awn-mower-lift

I have the same lift that op had mentioned. It would not lift my 2182 with a 60" deck on it without a little modification. When you get it and put it all together, you will notice that it just won't lift your tractor. It will lift you, the dog, a tool box and a stack of tires but not a larger tractor. But if you do one simple trick, all you old wise men who like to be safe, stop reading here, you just juice up the jack a little bit. On the jack you will see an orange plastic cap that says "DO NOT ADJUST" well, yer gonna want to adjust that. Pop that cap off and righty tighty that summon a gun down. You are now entering the danger zone. It will now lift anything, including a Ranger, but now the metal structure is close to its folding up point. BE VERY CAREFUL AND DONT GET YERSELF KILLED. Blocks under the tires, jack stands, yelling wife, concerned neighbors, and a phone nearby when you do this.

Gentlemen, let's always make sure that we recommend and practice good safety first. We do not want anyone (any of our members/friends/family members, etc.) ever getting hurt.
I get nervous whenever I see those lifts and guys underneath the tractors. I did not see either picture of the tires being chocked or jack stands (as already mentioned). My local shop has built a lift frame with a hoist along with safety chains that they link up once the tractor is in the air for a backup safety measure. Think safety first. I will cut cost some times, but never when safety is considered. Cub Cadet 123

i found an old pnuematic jack at a bone yard for 40 bucks.. after taking it home and a little tlc it works great..rated to 1500lbs too..i will try to get a pic, but have you ever seen one?? big cylinder stands about 4' tall, two handles up top with an air fitting and a 2 way valve, then down at the bottom a set of wheels (almost like a dolly) and then some brackets that can adjust outward and sideways..i think they were made to lift a vehicle (only one end) by the bumper??? but if you can find one of these, they work great and effortlessly to pick up a GT, for all sorts of jobs...my Dad likes it for cleaning decks and sharpeninig blades and such..thing is FAST too..

Looks like it'll lift a 20 lb big box store tin special just fine...but good old made in USA cast metal is a different story.

Hey guys, I was just doing some looking around.. I think the direction I might go is the HF motor cycle lift.. it is rated for 1100 or so.. A lot better than the tractor lift at 350 or so.. The motor cycle lift has straps that could hold the front or back.. couple dollars more.. But I think it is a lot safer for our cubs and us.. If any one has more knowledge with this item, I would love to know. Before I buy one.. Thanks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
