Nice catch on the 2082. You may not want to wait to reinforce the grille if you are putting a blower on the front for the winter, the vibration may worsen the condition. Protect the plastic, it cost me a small fortune to replace it on my 2082. Before you order any parts check the serial number, as you know there are some changes that were made mid way in production that effect what you may need. If you are installing a 451 blower make sure the tractor has the correct 4" PTO so you get the proper operating speed on the implement.

good to know. thank you. I'll have to check out that PTO. I just made the assumption (perhaps not smart) that it would use the 451/551 because the 1440 also calls for those models. I have a 450 sitting in the garage as well, so between the two available, one is bound to be correct.

...going to check out the attachments list now...

The 451 requires the 6" PTO, NOT the 4.5"

Yep, he is right, the 451 needs the 6" PTO. The point I was trying to make is there is a mid production change and which blower you want to use is dependent on where your specific tractor falls. The split occurs at s/n 821,059, everything before needs a 450 everything after needs a 451. The change had to do with the fact the crankshaft diameter went from 1.250" to 1.125" and the PTO changed along with the belt length, also since the 2082 is a super a pair of extension brackets is needed to drop it to the proper angle. Been down this road twice already. Check out the manuals under the tech section of the forum, they are most helpful.

I haven't checked the front PTO yet, but this 2082 does have the rounded corner fender pan rather than the more square style, so I assume it's from the newer s/n range, but I'll check it out tonight.

Congrats on the super. I totally agree, I once was a 100 man, then I got the 1872.

don't get me wrong though, I am still a 100 guy. I've got 6 100's currently and am only selling 2 of 'em so I can make some room. I have to admit that 6 is just a tad excessive.

that'll bring the current "keeper" stable to 3 100's, 1 122, 1 2082. One of the other 100's is on the bubble and a 1440 is for sale (only because I got the super).

A 100 is still going to be outfitted with chains and weights and will be my plow, while the super will be my main snow remover with a 45" 2-stage. I can't wait to get it up and running so I can make a mockery of every walk-behind blower or ratty lot-only plow rig rust bucket in the neighborhood. ...now I still need a darn cab.

Congrats on the new Super! Six 100's, yep you must like 'em.

Supers are nice tractors. Once you use the power steering, it's hard to go back.

Nice machine. I have an early 2082 that had the more square fender pan. Well, I wanted the flares. So I bought a new fender pan and began the swap. I gave $100 for my flares just so you know. Here's a pic of my 2082.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
