Default 1282 hydro wear items

My 1282 has a lil bit of speed up in the hydro linkage, if you move the hydro handle, it will take another half second to get to that speed. What are the first things that wear on the hydro that would affect it? Thx in advance

I'd take a look at the springs in the trunnion along with play in the linkage. I'd also do a fluid and filter change if you haven't done it recently.

This thing sat outside for a lil while so I'll do a fluid change and get the springs too. Would 700 hours wear it out that much?

I have a 1/2 acre, lots of turning around, forward to reverse, start and stops. If you change direction 100 times an hr (once change every 36 seconds), that's 70,000 direction changes on your machine! It may need a slight adjustment.

I would say it depends largely on use rather the just plain hours. You could have a tractor with 700 hours but it was constant stop, go, uphill, downhill, forward, reverse, etc and it could have worn notches. Then take a machine that has 1600 hours but it was used to mow a large area at a constant speed and it will hardly be worn.

Take note, though; this is just my personal opinion. I've had numerous machines ranging from a 127 to a 2284. A recent 129 I had had a trunnion in great shape, drove great, no creep, held speed good on hills, etc. However, on the other hand, the 2284 I have now had a pretty worn and beat up swash plate and when I got it, it was literally barely drivable (just enough to get it into the garage, as a matter of fact). So that right there just goes to show you how you use and maintain a machine matters more than just how old it is.

All that being said, I wouldn't think a 700 hour machine would be too bad, but who knows. Remove the fenders and take a look!

Got new rag joints for the drive shaft and brake return spring but forgot the trunion springs and hydro fluid I'll pull the fenders and take a look at the linkage

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
