Original engine is a bonus for me. Replacement is ok as long as it's made for the machine (IE a 12 HP for a 126, 14 HP for a 147, etc) it can always be painted and "camouflaged" to make it look like it was an original.

I was under the impression that (from the 1X8/9 series tractors and older) all the 10 HP engines had the long dipstick on the top of the engine on the S/G side and 12 and 14 HP engines had the dipstick on the cam cover, is this not correct?

Both my 125s and my former 122 had long dipsticks on the S/G side.

That's all that are here, except a couple of 149's a bunch of "O's" a 129 w/10 HP engine and a 123 w/10 HP engine. I guess that is at least part of the reason that I thought the 12 HP engines all had the dipstick in the cam cover and not the long stick on the S/G side. Thanks for setting me straight on the dipstick thing, once again you guys have proven that this old dog can learn something new. To satisfy my own curiosity, I'll check the others this weekend when I'm there and see what they have.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
