Wheel help
Wondering if anyone can help, I landed an early low profile super steer front axle from a 1541 that I want to install on my 782. The steering and axle look easy enough to change over. Originally I just figured I'd pop the wheels from the 782 on it, but after looking at it I'm not sure. The super steer spindle wheel stub looks short to me- I measured it-3". I haven't popped a wheel off the 7 yet but they look wider than 3" to me. My 1861 has the tall SS axle, and its tires seem to be taller and narrower than the 782. Is there a wheel difference I'm not seeing? I'd like to get this installed & try it out but now I'm wondering if I have to track down different wheels too. Thanks

Yeah I was leaning that route. I guess the question is, is there a difference in the depth of an 82 series wheel & a Cyclops wheel? The 61 looks taller & narrower than the 82.

I did an axle swap a few years ago, put a 1440 axle into a 1210 and used the 1210 wheels. No problems.

Thanks Sam. I pulled a wheel off the 7 & it did fit, so I gave the axle a dusting of IH red paint and put it in this afternoon. I'm going to go try mowing with it here shortly but I think I'm going to like it. Doesn't seem to have changed my frame ride height either.....which was what I was after. I'll see if I can get some pics up later.
Anybody know where I can get a spray can of faded IH red? LOL
