besides looking like crap its kinda pricey, i can rebuild the original engine for less than that provided there was no major failure.

I haven't.
Why? I'll sell you a rebuilt "K" series for $675 plus shipping. Why wouldn't you go with Kohler? |

I guess since I'm still learning about engines and how to rebuild them, other options might be go to know about. Though I didn't know I could get one rebuilt by someone for that price range. So you feel that a rebuilt kohler is still a better choice then a new engine with no hours on it? Does this engine offer anything over the stock?

i would go with a rebuilt kohler hands down. the motor you linked will look terrible in a cub not to mention you'll have to get creative with the wiring harness to make it work.

nope, it will require cutting and splicing the factory wiring harness to get it to start and charge.

I agree with everyone else. You would never be happy and it would look like crap in a 102. Plus you will spend more money and the Kohler is better. No reason not to rebuild it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
