That is one nice looking 1450! Are those the original tires on the front? Are there any company's still selling the ribbed tires like that for the front?

This morning I got the last few parts. Installed them and hooked up the deck to the tractor.

I am proud to report that she cut her first 2 acres of grass with out any issues. Ran real smooth never dropping below 3540 rpms even on small hills. No loss of oil, trans fluid etc.. Just a great ride!!!

You just can't beat a old cub cadet

Attached is a picture of her after cutting the grass.
That looks great!

Awesome! How'd you prep and paint? I'm sick over the cost for professional stripping and painting but am concerned I couldn't get a decent look without the help...

That is one sweet looking tractor! Great job, your wife must be pleased to see the outcome of all the nights of being in the garage. Just curious....that 1450 is it considered a "wide frame"? What size of pullies are on the mule drive (5/8" wide) Just curious if it and a 982 mule drive has the same size pullies on them or are the completely different?

Mountain Heritage: 1450 is considered a wide frame, the mule pullies I believe are 3/8 wide. Wife loves it, she has driven it around more times then I have in the last few days. Considering she has not driven it in the past 25 years I had it.
Maybe I can talk her into a second one for her?

Cledford: I had another post call "1450 makeover" a few days ago that had some details on steps I did for painting. Can't say its a pro job but it did come out very good.

80zfreak: Front tires are Carlise tires I picked them up at Farm and fleet for $22 each they are 4 ply. They mount them for me for free on the rims. I still have the originals rims and tire I use for winter. The rear tires and rims came from my local CC dealer used from his stock pile of used part. I had to dig through the pile so he gave them to me both for $30.

3/8 or 5/8? 3/8 seems narrow?

Actually its 1/2in (inside width of pully groove) I just measured it. I guess I should finish my coffee and wake up before posting.:biggrin2.gif:

My 129 uses use a 3/8 belt on the mule drive.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
