I bought some brake pad material from Mcmaster but have not used it yet. Might try it next time... I imagine that there isn't enough heat generated to soften the epoxy bond? Is there a preferred type of epoxy? (assuming slow set for max strength. but wondering if jbweld or another adhesive would be better than plain epoxy.)

Looking really good, Sam! I see the 149 also still has the float lock-out pin in place. Flip it around and you can pick the front of the tractor off the ground with a snow blade attached, and you'll be able to put some serious down-pressure on that tiller you're gonna hang off the rear!

Pics of the re-lined brake pads. Had to sand them down just a bit. Belt sander worked just fine for this job. Also found a replacement for the PTO turn buckle at TSC that is the same size as the OEM Cub part, TSC part number 3550591 listed as a 1/4X7 turn buckle, it's $2.29. Got the choke cable freed up with some Power Blaster. So made a little progress on the 149. The VR for the red turd showed up today so it will be getting evicted from my shop tomorrow. Best part of the day was killing grass with the 2182. Ye Hah!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
