Congrats on the second 18'! Yeah, that's a BIG seat and rear tires!! WOW!

Check your key switch for the loose connection. Very common problem. I have trouble there from time to time on mine. Wiggle it a little and back in business. If its really bad, new switch and new terminals in the plug will fix it.

Did a "little" work on it tonight. I'll post pics and details tomorrow but I pulled the engine to do some cleanup and found the problem to be with the fuse holder, lose wire best I could tell. I didn't fix it yet, ran short on time, but at least I know what the problem is. And the other thing I learned tonight is I now have my first Wolbro carb. Once I got things back together, I started it up and let it warm up, then went through the throttle range. I noticed at full throttle it seems to surge. I haven't tinkered with it yet, but I'm thinking someone messed with the governor spring like on my other 1811. Anything else I should check?

Is it an adjustable one?

You know the drill. Clean the carb and tank, tune up. This ain't your first rodeo!

Well guys, couple more updates. The Cub gods must have been looking down on me last night because the g/f konked out for bed early which left me with wide awake Cub time! When she fell asleep, I carefully slinked out of bed, tip toed out to the garage, grinned, and got to work.

I merely went out there with the intention of checking it out more in depth, maybe tracking down the loose electrical wire, just general tinkering. Well, hours later (didn't get to sleep until about 12:30am), I had made excellent progress. When I got this, I knew that there was some blockage in the ducting because not only did one side feel a bit restricted, but the other felt like there was down right very little air cooling her off. So, out came the wrenches and gloves. Diconnect this drive shaft, the electrical connections, remove that motor mount bolts, this fuel tank, the fire wall, and spin the starter bolt. Wait, what was that last part?!! That's right, everything was going great until until I went to remove the started bolt and it spun in place. A few choice words later, I continued on.

Got the motor lifted out of the tractor and set on the frame (best I was going to attempt to do alone). Started by removing the drivers side left shrouds and woah! Grabbed a mouse nest and (this was a first for me) dead mouse out of the shrouding. Blew the last bits of dust out and moved to the other side. This, this was nothing short of horrible. I'll skip the details but by the time I was done with the drivers side right, I had found a pound of mouse bedding and I stopped counting at 2 more dead mice! Anywho, blew it out too, wiped and scraped some dirt from the engine/frame, and then I was only down to a busted starter bolt and bad wire end. So, seeing as how I had a parts M18 sitting on my bench, grabbed the starter from it, rummaged through a parts bin and found a new wire crimp, and finished up; mounted the starter, re-crimped the end, and violla! Good to go.

The rest went pretty smooth; set the engine back down, slid into place, bolted drive shaft up, hooked up electricals, installed firewall, yada yada yada Sat back down, turned the key and nothing. Doh! Forgot to check for the electrical problem! So, in an act of desperation, I got down on my knees, shined a flashlight behind the dash, and eyeballed everything. What do we have here? A lose wire on the fuse terminal! Jiggled that, sat down, turned the key, and vroom vroom! Started right up. So, I at least figured out what I set out to fix at the beginning of the night

Anywho, here's the only couple pics I managed to snap before my phone died on me, I'll try and get some more when I make it back out to the garage. First one is of some of the dirt and crud that accumulated behind the engine. If only I had known haha The next one is of everything disconnected and ready to remove the engine. Next up is the first mouse sacrafice and nest on the left side, then only the START of the pile from the other side. That pile, phew, got B-I-G.

So there it is, my progress on this tractor so far. I still want to pull the carb and clean it up, clean out the fuel tank, remove the fenders and pressure wash, change the transmission fluid/filter, just a couple little things. Hope you guys enjoyed, I'll be sure to keep it coming!

Yes Nick it is lmao guy I got it from told me it was a pup seat from a semi, kinda like a trainer seat in newer big tractors. Looks ridiculous but the thing is, when you're sitting in it, it's comfortable!

Well guys, here's my progress for the night. To try and smooth the high idle out, I removed the carb and cleaned it as best I could (including removing the only adjustment screw and cleaning the passageway). Reinstalled and let it warm up. Tried full throttle and still a TAD surg-ey. Tinkered with the fuel adjustment screw got it to smooth out. Woo hoo! Tried a rev's and caught sight of a small puff of smoke when going from idle to full throttle. Any idea of possible causes? Possibly from sitting for so long (been sitting over the winter, at least)? Possibly from running too rich? Too lean? Just to see how it'd run, I tried removing the spark plug wire from one side then the other; engine speed slowed down but it still ran on one plug. Also, I haven't seen any signs of it burning oil but I haven't ran it a whole lot to really get a good judgement. I'm hoping it'll clean up but time will tell.
