You guys ROCK! Ye Gonna Fix Dis Little Critter By Golly! Think I owe all you 129-169 owners an apology, the more I get into it the more I like it and now understand why you guys rave about them. Pretty basic machine. Considering it's age it's in much better condition than I first thought. Some pics of todays progress. It get's another bath tomorrow now that I can get at what needs cleaning. 3rd pic shows the broken bolt in the rear. 5th pic shows the hydro lever that I can not get off and yes the set screw is out. Last pic shows where the fiber button should be.

Sam, I'd probably see if you can find a used lever instead of repairing the old. I'm sure Ray can fix you up. I don't have a rebuilt PTO ready to go, but I do have one I can rebuild. Just saying cause you asked if anyone here sold them. I'm sure your more than capable, just offering!

The ones in my machines must be 10 years old or more and regularly used.

The old addage, bigger is better. It was simply to show that the discs can be found. That was the first in the list and I just simply posted it. Congrats on your regular usage too.

Sam,

As others mentioned, you can get all of your PTO parts online. I haven't rebuilt a PTO clutch yet, but have one on the 109 that needs it. Does your clutch have one or two of item #15 ? I think they beefed up that spring in later models to account for increased hp. That arrangement might be helpful with a tiller set up. Some of them also had a brake too. What year make is this Cub?

My 126's PTO clutch works great and you can feather it in vs a thud you get with an electric clutch.

While you've got the tractor in tear down, some other things folks do is add Dave Kirks super steer kit and his points saver ignition. If your hood hinge is falling apart, folks change them out with a hinge from a QL tractor. Also have a look-see at the axle clevis too to see if it needs to be pinched a bit.

I know I'm talking to a Cub Cadet guru, so I hope I'm not lecturing the master...

One thing you will like about that series tractor is no stop on the hydro lever on forward and reverse. It makes for some quick maneuvering.

Good luck,
Bill

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
