I am looking at a 1450 that is supposed to have two lifts. From the pictures I can identify it has the hitch on the back and the rod for the deck lift. I don't see another control for the rear. Is this even possible? Do you have to choose what you want to control, either rear or front? It's too far away for me to go look at just for curiosity, and I've never seen a QL in person. I am thinking about adding a hydrostatic to the herd and this caught my eye. Within the hour I am going to look at a cub junk yard with 10 to 15 tractors in it to see what I can find to fit my needs.

The front and rear lift together. I highly doubt anyone separated them.

That makes sense. Is this unique to a QL? This is exactly what I have been looking for but I am not familiar with this model. Are lifts common on the hydros?

Hydraulic lift has been an option as far back as Original. The 149 was the first tractor that came standard with hydraulic lift. After that, it was an option on some models, standard on other models.

The rear lift comes into play only if you have what is called a "3 point" installed on your tractor.
This amounts to a large heavy bar that lays along and inside side the right frame rail and is connected to the "rock shaft". on the front. You can see the rear of this bar in the photo along side the frame rail. You have to remove the tunnel cover to see the front of it and how it is pinned to the rock shaft. This shaft is the same part that your front lift lever is pinned to. The rear of the bar (see picture) is swivel bolted to a large casting that fits between the frame rails to which a 7" long 1" rod is pinned to. This is your lift rod and you will need what is called a "sleeve hitch " assembly to utilize this feature. In the picture, the yellow parts are the lift rod and assly, the white parts are the sleeve hitch assly. These parts are for sale quite often. You or someone, may have misunderstood the front lift part and were expecting front hydraulic ports such as would be used to control angle on a snow blade for instance. |

I saw that cub for sale, too. Not too many here in Texas. I had to go to OK. to get my 102 a few weeks ago. Good luck with that cub junkyard. I'd like to check that out myself.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
