Ryan, I think it's worth fixin' up. I really like your headlights! Here's my 72 "restoration." It was really a barn find--been sitting for 15 years in a barn. In pretty good shape to start with, actually. I think it's a neat little tractor. The engine does puff a little smoke at start up, but otherwise runs fine. I wound up putting a 3 pt lift on it, not shown in the pics.

Cant even imagine what you guys might come up with. Maybe a Super diesel with full suite of attachments, all in pink/purple color coordination. And flowers on the seat, and some 'gems' as a hood ornament.

Ryan

Wish the tower on my 71 looked that good. This is what I had to do to patch it. It was rotted through at the bottom on both sides. Not the nicest job I've ever done but it's a worker.

If it were mine, I'd try to trade it for something I wanted, or sell it for something I wanted..either a complete tractor or parts for different one.

Well, I just came in from working on the 72. A few days ago I thought I wanted to get a correct 7hp for the tractor, but decided against it. I knew I had a nice 100 engine sitting on the shelf ready to go, so I decided to put it in and try it. WOW, the engine runs great! Better than I originally remembered. Took it out for a test drive in the dark (with the lights, of course) and climbed this hilly yard in third gear no problem. Doing that makes me feel a lot better about saving it and keeping it. I keep thinking that it just seems that this motor has more power than my 100, I wonder if it is bored out? I suppose it is old enough that it could be possible. I think I will run it a few hours and then do a headgasket change and decarbon the head. The engine sat for at least 15 years according to the guy who owned the 100. Can't believe there is no smoke!

I don't figure you'd still be interested in selling it would you?
I'm just kidding, if you want to keep it that's just fine. Lol

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
