Man, nice find. I've been looking out for an 882 or 1512 to complete the smoker crew. Someday I'll snag one. Good luck with the 982 conversion.

It actually looks nice enough to be put back in use. Still has the NLA deck height adjust wheel, some hubcaps and $250 worth of OEM muffler..heck, the chrome tip is still there.
A steal at $500. When you say it "rolls" over, do you mean you can turn the flywheel over by hand, or is it turning over with the key? The D600 needs more cranking power than the worn out OEM starters can provide, so I bet there are a ton of Cub diesels that get parked from tired starters and IGN switches. Clean and tighten every ground wire you can get your eyes on. |

Got it running today, and it sounds great. I changed all the filters and swapped in different battery cables, as the old ones were corroded inches back under the insulation. After i bled the fuel lines she cranked for 30 sec or so and fired right up. That made me very happy. I ordered two gear reduction starters today ( one for this and one for my 1572) and napa is bringing me a set of updated ngk glow plugs tomorrow so I can finish the glow plug relay update. Now I just need a warm day to power wash the 1512 and the 982, then I can start the conversion. I know some will say I should keep the 1512 together and use it but I have a 982 with rear pto and 3-point that would make a much more useful tractor with is engine in it. The other parts will not go to waste.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
