Default New first time cub owner and need clutch help

I just bought my first home and my first cub. A good friend of mine is big into cubs and on this forum somewhere I pretty much bought one because of him. They are pretty awesome!

Anyway, I just bought a Cub 102 thats in really good shape. Im thinking its been restored once but anyway, it sat for about a year and a half. everything works great on it but the clutch pedal. Its stuck down all the way. With the help of my friend, we disconnected the brake lever and the clutch lever. The clutch snap pretty good and seems fine. But the pedal is still stuck. We used pry-bars and body weight to get the pedal to break free to no avail. Its been sprayed with PB Blaster the night I got it (last week) and again this past saturday. Im thinking the shaft that goes through the frame is frozen in the frame. The shaft on the pedal side seems to have a tiny bit of play but the shaft on the other end doesnt budge.

I kinda dont know the best way to go about it from here. Just keep spraying PB Blaster on it until it breaks free? Or should I pull the retaining pin on the inside of the frame on the pedal side and try pounding the pedal out?

The paint is pretty good so i dont want to use heat.

You know we like pictures.
If you have the clutch and brake pedal arm disconnected there shouldn't be anything holding the pedal. So you must have a big time rust issue. PB Blaster or heat, and you don't want heat, so.....

Welcome to OCC.

First thing, check the pedal shaft on each end (inside the frame rails) to make sure that a spiral pin hasn't slipped partly out of it's hole and jammed itself against the inside of the lip on the bottom of the frame rail.

If that isn't the problem, and it were my tractor, I would get a long, heavy punch or drift and a heavy hammer, and hold it (the punch/drift) against the ends of the shaft and try to knock the shaft back and forth in the frame, just to see if you can get any kind of movement out of it. It will not move much (because of the spiral pin that keeps it in the frame).

If you pry on the pedal... You will break it off.

yes pictures are great, I have been searching through them all here

I hope to close on the house on the 20th. right now the cub is just sitting in the trailer. I got a great deal, I got the 102, mower deck, dumping utility trailer ( seems original), snow plow and the snowblower for $400. So once I get it out of the trailer, pics will be coming!

I guess I will continue on with my methods with pb blaster and the punch and hammer. I will double check the pin, I thought it was centerd but it was dark out when we were futzing with it.

Seems strange? Been around these for a long time and never seen one stuck in the down position.

Make sure you have the parking brake release lever disengaged. That will hold the clutch in the down position.

Other than that I cant think of a reason it should be stuck. It should not be able to be stuck down in normal use and for setting a long time?? Pictures would help.
