Ok update. I got everything up front working, I know it took a while. The slot for the key had been all torn up so I had to build it back up to get it to sit nice and tight but it's all good now. Now i'm back to the hydro. It'll move fine forward and reverse but only at low throttle. When given more throttle it won't move either way. I made a video so you hear when the throttle moves up the movement stops and when moved back down it'll move forward and reverse again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol69L5uxWhE

When you throttle it up does the stub shaft on the back of the hydro stop turning as well? I still think you have an oil delivery problem. Time to start bird dogging it.

The shaft is still spinning, fluid level is good and brand new fluid. No leaks, and every section of the line has been taken off and blown out, nothing was in any of them. I have no idea what else it could be.

Time to download the service manual.

I'm thinking you have a problem with the charge pump or one of the relief valves.

New filter is in the mail, I put the original one back in which was working fine before. And the relief valves are both purtruding and move up and down freely.

How long has the tractor ran since this happened? Is it slowly getting better?

I'm not talking about the check valves, I'm thinking maybe the relief valve for the charge pump has some junk in it or possibly the pin inside the charge pump has sheared. That's why I suggested that you down load the service manual. It explains how to test the hydro and how to service it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
