If you find one that is not cracked or wallered out there, it soon will be after xx hours.
Maybe just weld a thick washer over the hole and save the one you have.

That's the exact problem I have. A true flaw in manufacturing.

I've inquired to a few & . The cost of the hood is crazy, then with shipping, is crazier. Be darned if I'm gonna pay 1/3 the cost of the entire machine.

Looks as if my 90amp welder will do a little welding this spring.

NIK,

NIK,
I have a Buddy with a sheet metal shop. Took the hood over to him and he copied the damaged area, 1/2 hr later I was out the door with the new pieces. Drilled out the nose piece and pressed brass bushing in, reamed the bushing to size and its been working good ever since.

Well by your description it seems like a good job. But if possible is a close-up picavailable? My feeble mind is NOT capable of trying to visualize what you mean? Im not that mechanically inclined, but I try.

MinnesotaCadet has graciously offer a real nice hood from a # 147. In the process of POSSIBLY buying it? We are working on a price. One good thing is that both of us has a fastenall dealer nearby for shipping, just got to go over there to estimate shipping cost.

But if I do purchase it I want to re-enforce that WEAK pivot point with some type of bushing to make it work as bduck described.

Nik

Sorry not picture savy. The reason for the bushing in the nose piece is, the hole was wallered out. Drilled the hole out to .002 under sized of the bushing O.D. Pressed the bushing in and then reamed the bushing to the bolt O.D. Not doing this and the nose piece hole wallered out it would have been worthless to repair the hood. Good luck in your endevers.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
