Default Cub Cadet 1440 Latch Assembly, Quick

Attachment Snow/Dozer Blade:

Blade mount to quick latch keeps popping out.

Does the quick latch wear out? If so is there a quick fix? Seems like the quick latch rod ends only cover approx. 1/4 or less of the plow mount rod.

All Help Is Greatly appreciated! TY

It looks a little worn but I've seen worse. What I don't see is the part that should come down to retain the pins on the implement. This is the best pic I have of how it should look.

Well the area in red in this pic should drop down to lock the implement in the hitch. The latch is held in by the 2 pins that it pivots on and a spring. It could be bent or worn. You will probably need to pull it out and see what is going on. The spring should hold it in the latched position.

The spring is weak on my 1641 so I tie wrap the latch lever tight to the frame.

Latch rod does not appear to be worn.

It looks pretty good. Could still be bent or the spring could be sacked. If you hold it up against the front of the frame do the cams cover the slot for the hitch as they are supposed to?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
