Default k301

I have a k301 in a 129 that I can not seem to get to run right. It idles fine, wide open is fine. But it stumbles real bad when trying to accelerate to the point it will stall. If I pull the choke out it will accelerate. High speed needle looks fine, new points, valves adjusted, carb cleaned and adjusted no vacuum leaks.. I have tried everything!!! any ideas?

Just my guess but if you need to pull choke in order to get it to accelerate I'd say it's running lean. I'm sure the guys that know more about the older engines than I do will chime in.

have you ever taken it apart and cleaned the carb? there are several areas that will hold dirt, the brass tube that threads up from the bottom like to accumulate dirt behind it. sometimes the idle circuit holes in the needle get stuff in them. have you ever tried to richen the idle and hi speed screws?
anytime you take the carb off you should adjust the governor to the carb since its rare you ever get the carb bolted on in the same spot

just so you know ; when kohler gives you its preset turn's out. that's not the actual setting. just a starting point. your engine or any engine may need to be turned in or out a half turn to a turn to actually get the setting correct.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
