Its possible the 70 could need the common wear parts replaced like spiral pins, tie rod ends, maybe the steering up grade, ect. . This series was the first number series IH tractor since 1910 to use a number system, and now had bearings in the front wheels. I had a 100, and that engine is the repower in my 72. Nice 70!
Thank you for your reply.
It seems to be a little rusty under the battery box, but otherwise it is just old, original paint. The steering is tight for an old tractor and I just need to clean out the old fluilds and crank her over. Even the tires are original! I will paint my 105 and leave this one alone.

Exclamation Using the IH Cub Cadet 71,...

Last night for the second time yesterday, I needed to go push snow out of the drive way! Today is cold, with temperatures in the upper teens at the moment. Below average for this time of year, and we have not seen a white Thanksgiving Holiday in a few years around these parts! Here are two "dark-time" snow battle pictures:

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
