Welcome to OCC. I Love auctions too. There are not many Cubs that show up in the auctions around here. Our local Cub dealer sold out a few years ago and I did not get to go. I was forced to work and being a new job, I could not get out of it. I own several of these and here is some of my experience.
1. Do not buy a starter on eBay, unless it is a NOS Mitsubishi. Some people have had good luck, but mine only lasted a year and it is too hard of a job to do every year, at least for me. I am getting one rebuilt for 100 dollars. 2. Go ahead and change the belt in the rear of the engine while the shaft is out. You can read a resent post on this. 3. Get a service manual. You will need the electrical drawing. I will add more if I think of anything. Again Welcome.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
