Its been awhile sinse i last posted but to update everyone. I still have the 147 but now with no motor. over the course of last year i was making it into a pulling tractor. i finished it. i ran it in the 1100lbs 650cc super class amd won first place!!! I still can,t figure out how to post pics from my phone but when i do i'll have some up of the pull... Back to the no motor thing over summer i was trying to pull this tree. it wosent moving vary well and i just gunned it and the motor when boom.. It bent the crank broke the rod and put a hole in the cylinder.. so needless to say i just scraped it. but i found another 14hp kohler but i have to wait untill spring to get it!!! and im really sorry for such a long post

Yeah, burn outs, pulling trees and gunning not the best treatment for 40 year old motors.

Good luck with the replacement.

That's good. The one in my 147 was just turned to .30 over but at least the crank didn't need any work. I won't completely baby it, maybe some bull dozing and mostly mowing. We'll see how long that motor holds up.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
